Benefits of Membership
At The Healthy Human, patients enjoy convenient office visits, personal communication via phone, e-mail, text, and much more. To learn more about member benefits click the link below.
DPC makes medical care convenient for the patient, as well as the doctor. It offers versatility to the way we communicate & care for our patients, such as being available by phone/text after hours and on weekends for urgent concerns. Just as we are versatile in communication, so are the hours our clinic is open. Since DPC patients have access to their doctor 24/7, it is not necessary to have "set" office hours.
We will have the office open for "Appointment Only" scheduling and medication pick up. Otherwise, it is not a "Walk-In" Clinic. It allows us to spend our time in the office with scheduled patients when needed and give them our full attention, as well as offer our team much needed Work-Life Balance .

Healthy Human Family Physician
AMBER BECKENHAUER, D.O.
Family Medicine/ER/OB/CS, Integrative Health & Wellness,
Aesthetics & Skin Care Physician, CEO & Founder
Dr. Beckenhauer is known by almost all of her patients as "Dr. B." She grew up in a small Nebraska town called Ashland, just 45 min away. She completed her medical degree at KCUMB in Kansas City, MO from 2004-2008, and finished Family Practice residency in Lincoln, NE in 2011. In July of 2011, she moved to Blair with her family to begin employment at MCH & Health System. From 2011-2017, she not only practiced Primary Care at the clinic for all ages, but also delivered infants by vaginal or cesarean delivery, staffed the Emergency Room, served as Medical Director of the ER & Blair Clinic, and lastly served as Medical Staff President before her departure. From 2018 on, she continues to help the local hospital by working in the ER and delivering babies by C-section and Vaginal deliveries. Dr. Beckenhauer enjoys teaching Family Practice Residents in her spare time, and started at Nebraska Medicine/Clarkson Family Residency Program in the Fall of 2018 to help promote the education of Rural Family Practice.
With her Osteopathic Medicine background, whole person healthcare resonates with her. It also drives her passion for Integrative Wellness and Hormonal Balance. To further her studies, she has completed courses for the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. Dr. Beckenhauer believes that Passions Starts With People, and we can all make a difference...ONE Patient/Person at a TIME.
Dr. B believes that everyone deserves healthcare, and she was overwhelmed with the amount of her very own patients that neglected their medical appointments due to cost and rising insurance premiums. Direct Primary care was her way of incorporating affordable, whole-person healthcare, under one roof and keeping patients FIRST. It allows her to have time with her patients and be a strong patient advocate. Each patient will benefit from her unique, personalized care! She is looking forward to bringing the community together through the promotion of health and wellness by offering community events, such as classes for DPC members and non-members, as well as working side by side with the local facilities/businesses to put healthcare first in our county and surrounding counties.
Dr. B is honored to be the only woman amongst a household of men (obviously she gets the "Princess" treatment this way). She is married to Jeremy, and together they raise three energetic boys by the names of Jackson, Tucker, and Hank.
A positive attitude goes a long way when your health is concerned, and at the Healthy Human we make it the rule, not the exception. Incredibly patient and knowledgeable, our team is committed to helping patients feel better and be well-informed when making important health decisions.
Emily Beckman is here to provide an outstanding patient-nurse experience at the HH DPC. She is an LPN with IV certification. She graduated in 2015 from Nursing school, and is a Blair, NE native. She is a proud mother to Avery, and engaged to Trent. Emily loves DPC and how it helps patient receive healthcare they would have never been able to afford otherwise. Her eyes light up when we tell patients the savings they have received. We are very fortunate to have Emily working with us at The Healthy Human. She is elated to provide personalized and unique healthcare options to the patients in her hometown.
Josie Pauley is our newest team member at the HH DPC Ashland. She is a Medical Assistant (MA) from Missouri Valley, Iowa. She comes to us from clinical settings in two different rural healthcare areas, which will help her feel right at home in the small town of Ashland. She is able to handle a rigorous schedule, and always does a great job being attentive to patients no matter how busy! She looks forward to the DPC community and schedule so she can promote health and wellness to patients, as well as build relationships with them along the way. She is a proud mother to Avery, and lives with her daughter and significant other, Josh. We welcome her to our team with open arms!

Melanie Dresden, APRN
Family Nurse Practitioner, Board-Certified
Integrative Health, Wellness Coach
Aesthetics, Skin Care
Melanie comes to the Healthy Human with years of experience in healthcare. She comes from a variety of settings including Primary Care, Urgent Care, and the Emergency Room. She worked as a nurse for 9+ years prior to going back to school for her Nurse Practitioner degree. She enjoyed working with patients daily, but desired a Provider-Patient relationship in a setting that would offer continuity of care. In May of 2017, she graduated from Simmons College in Boston with a Nurse Practitioner degree and continues to follow her dreams. She has a desire to educate patients on health and wellness by using nutrition & diet as a means for medical treatment and preventive care. Melanie and Dr. Beckenhauer share the same passion for Integrative/Functional medicine, and work hard at incorporating this into a patient's everyday life. Melanie has taken another leap into Integrative Wellness by completing classes from KionU, which is a Health and Wellness Certification Program with Ben Greenfield. It is a world-class personalized coaching certification in mind, body, and spirit optimization.
Melanie also comes from small town "roots" and is a transplant to Blair from Newcastle, NE. She is married to Toby and they are blessed with 3 children. She has a daughter named Renn, and two sons, Degan and Coen.

Mindy lives in Blair with her husband, Ted. They are the proud parents of 4 children, whom include Tayler, Hayen, Easton, & Elinn. Their family also includes 2 golden retrievers. Mindy’s time is mostly spent transporting kids to different practices, games, and outing events. She has also spent time at the ILLAC Center in the Dominican Republic in the past for a mission trip with dermatology. WHY DIRECT PRIMARY CARE (DPC)?
Doctors are Frustrated. Patients are frustrated.
Direct Primary Care is a new practice model which allows patients to have a direct relationship with their healthcare provider, which does not involve insurance companies. We accept all patients with private insurance plans, but we do not BILL insurance for our services. If you have government insurance, Medicare and Medicaid, please see our tab that discusses this further. In this alternative payment model, patients pay a monthly membership fee and the Physician/NP provide the professional service. You have a direct relationship with your healthcare provider!
We can spend more time with each patient. In traditional practices, physicians can have patient panels anywhere from 2000 to 4000 patients. In DPC, we keep our patient panel lower at anywhere from 600 to 1000 patients to offer more one-on-one care. Included in the monthly fee, patients have easy access to their provider and staff via phone, email, video chat and in-person visits. There are no co-pays and most procedures are included in the membership! Many in office tests are also included free with membership. Labs are offered at deep discounts when compared to insurance based prices. In addition to providing accessible, quality health care, Direct Primary Care offices often have medication dispensaries on site which sell medications at wholesale prices. Medications are purchased in bulk and dispensed at wholesale prices to our patients.
The best part of all...the prices are transparent! (which means YOU know all the costs up front, no more bills 1-3 months later that can range from $300-900)
DPC takes out the middle man, and cuts through the layers of complexity. It allows The Healthy Human to go back in time to old-fashioned family medicine, and patient-friendly customer service.
What Type of Patients Benefit from DPC:
Almost ALL of us!
Uninsured, Health Sharing Plans, High Deductible Plans,
Low Deductible Plans that desire a Direct Physician/Patient relationship.
